Molly's Story

Modern heirlooms with everyday charm. Molly Hatch creates tableware, home goods, stationery, and gifts designed to make the familiar new again. Somewhere between whimsical and traditional is where we feel right at home.

Artist, designer, and ceramicist Molly Hatch began her career as a studio potter, infusing her tableware and home decor items with contemporary sensibilities and classical charm. The daughter of a painter and an organic dairy farmer, she draws from the beauty of everyday objects by imagining where each will live. A cake stand may become a marker of birthdays and celebrations. A weekend tote may see countless trips to the farmers market. Their repeated use creates a story to be treasured for generations.

With a formal education in ceramics and drawing, Molly launched her first tableware collection from her home studio in 2008. Her signature blend of 18th century aesthetics with modern whimsy quickly garnered a loyal following, launching her brand into a wide range of lifestyle products for the home. Today, Molly Hatch collections can be found through the brand's partnerships with retailers worldwide. Molly works from her studio in Florence, Massachusetts, where she continues to hone her craft and make the traditional new again.

Workshop: From Hand to screen to surface

Many designers are so well-versed in the art of working digitally that the idea of creating things by hand can feel daunting – but it doesn’t have to. Join Molly Hatch for Pattern Design: From Hand to Screen to Surface and revisit the tactile experience of making images.

Handcrafted artwork and patterns can open new doors for you – both creatively and professionally. In this course, you’ll learn how to develop a creative process that combines hand work with digital to get results you and your clients will love. You’ll learn how to:

Create repeat patterns by hand, using cut paper and block repeats. Scan and adjust patterns in Photoshop. Hand-color line art to capture unique textures. Give companies and clients the handmade look they’re craving.

If you’re ready to make your designs more unique, more appealing to clients, and more of a reflection of who you are as a designer, this is the course for you!

& Ethical Production

At Molly Hatch, we’re all about making beautiful goods more ethically and sustainably.

During my start as a studio potter, I crafted each and every item by hand. In the past 10 years, I’ve been fortunate to see immense growth and demand for my designs, which has led me to partner with many companies all over the world to manufacture and distribute my designs. I’ve made it a priority to retain the integrity of my roots in seeking out those partnerships. I want my brand to be an ethical and sustainable business for the long term.
